Strawberry Nutella Ice Cream Cups

I made these last week during The Great Strawberry Frenzy of '13. It was so horrendously humid and hot that even the chocolate was sweating. See?

I hate eating condensation on my chocolate almost as much as I the idea of eating cotton balls. I don't know why, but sometimes I just think about it and shudder. Eating a cotton ball is truly one of my greatest fears. I probably shouldn't have told you that though. I was talking to my brother Tay about it the other day and about two seconds later I got a handful of cotton balls shoved down my throat. It was horrifying. Then he threatened to tie me up and rub me up against the ceiling of the van (one of my other professed greatest fears... I don't know what it is about that texture that just gives me the willies).

I don't know why I continue to make him treats when he peeves me so.

Anywho, these things are pretty easy to make. Just melt up some chocolate with some Nutella and paint it into some cupcake liners (I did two thick layers because I was afraid they would break) and then fill them with ice cream and strawberries.

You can fill them with anything you want really... hot fudge, bananas, caramel, etc. Just be creative!

Strawberry Nutella Ice Cream Cups

1 cup chopped milk chocolate (chocolate chips will work)
1/3 cup Nutella
A few scoops of vanilla ice cream
Some fresh strawberries
Melted white chocolate for drizzling on berries if desired

Melt together the chocolate and Nutella. You can dip some strawberries in it and then put them on some parchment paper or something to harden and drizzle them with some white chocolate. Then paint the bottom of about 6 or so cupcake liners with chocolate (you can make more or less depending on how thick you lay on the chocolate). You don't have to go all the way up the liner. It actually makes it easier to pull the liners off at the end if you don't. Allow the cups to harden (I put it in the freezer) and then paint on another coat so it's nice and sturdy. Once that hardens, fill it with a some ice cream and top that with some strawberry slices. Put them back in the freezer until the ice cream is nice and hard, then spread another coat of the melted chocolate on top (you might have to warm it back up) and immediatly place a chocolate covered strawberry. Keep in the freezer until ready to eat. Be careful when you pull off the liners. Just do it slowly and take your time.
